Sola Fide

I know, I know, I know… “Girl, ‘sola what?’” Gimmie like 19 seconds to explain real quick. This is a Latin phrase that derives from the Reformation of the Catholic Church. It’s used as one of five “Solas” (Christian doctrines that intended to both correct the misguided religious doctrines of the Catholic Church, but also is a foundational biblical declaration for Christians). Ok, now that concludes the educational portion of the reading! What does this have to do with you? Sola fide translates directly as “faith alone” in English. The goal of this doctrine was to reinforce the Christian fundamental ideology that it’s not by works, but “faith alone” is the only requirement for salvation. Contrary to the Old Testament ways, keeping the law, blood sacrifices, and other good deeds won’t save you. But believing will…
Ok, so some of you are like, “I’M NOT A CHRISTIAN, make it make sense for ME Sis!” Like most of the theology that You9ted stands for, it’s applicable to EVERYONE. Regardless of your religious beliefs, or lack thereof make no mistake, EVERYONE HAS FAITH! When you wake up in the morning, you’ve got faith that when you get out of the bed all your limbs will function properly, just as they did when you fell asleep. You have faith that the floor is secure enough for you to walk on. You’ve got faith that your next breath is an absolutely certainty. You’ve got faith that what is, JUST IS and will continue to be.
Where we differ is what we put our faith in. My faith, as a Christian, is rooted in a higher power (that tremendous trio I call Yahweh, The Living Word, & Holy Spirit). While your faith might be rooted in Allah, Buddha, a crystal, yourself, or Satan! I digress because, per usual, I believe our differences tend to separate us rather than unify us. The point is, who cares???
My encouragement to you today is, it doesn’t matter what your faith is rooted in. Faith alone will help the things you want to see manifest in your life become a reality. Whether your faith be in blessings or curses, “death & life are in the power of the tongue,” (Proverbs 18:21 KJV). Are you speaking death or life to your circumstances? Is your faith in your success or your failure? Are your doubts and distractions causing faith in complacency? Tell yourself, NO MORE! This year, I urge you to speak the desires of your heart by faith alone! Don’t be blinded by what you see but build your faith until you can say what you see, and eventually you will see what you say. I hope you caught that… See your future. Speak your vision and start your success. Sola Fide…
